Johannesburg J1d Railway Handstamp
There are three types; J1d (i), a framed one line handstamp, J1d (ii), a framed three line handstamp and J1d (iii), an unframed one line handstamp
- J1d (i) is a framed one line handstamp with the letters 'JOHANNESBURG' in dark blue ink. Dimensions are 37.5 x 10 mm, with letters 3 mm high
- J1d (ii) is a framed three line handstamp in blue with the word 'JOHANNESBURG' at top and a date at the bottom. Similar to existing NAZSM (Netherlands South African Railway Company) railway station framed handstamps indicating that the missing middle line is 'NAZSM'
- J1d (iii) is an unframed one line handstamp with the letters 'JOHANNESBURG' in black or light blue ink. Letters are 7 mm high
These handstamps were used at the Johannesburg railway station (situated at Park Halt and later known as Park Station)
- Postmark type J1d (i) - one line framed handstamp in dark blue (21 December 1892 - 21 August 1894) rated 3R
- Postmark type J1d (ii) - 3 line framed handstamp in blue rated 3R
- Postmark type J1d (iii) - unframed handstamp in light blue or black (31 March 1893 - January 1895) rated 3R
